The solar corona as an active medium for magnetoacoustic waves

چکیده

Abstract The presence and interplay of continuous cooling heating processes maintaining the corona Sun at observed one million K temperature were recently understood to have crucial effects on dynamics stability magnetoacoustic (MA) waves. These essentially compressive waves perturb coronal thermal equilibrium, leading phenomenon a wave-induced misbalance (TM). Representing an additional natural mechanism for exchange energy between plasma wave, TM makes active medium MA waves, so that wave can not only lose but also gain from source (similarly burning gases, lasers masers). We review recent achievements in this newly emerging research field, focussing slow-mode experience as back-reaction perturbed equilibrium. new include enhanced frequency-dependent damping or amplification slow effective, associated with non-uniformity, dispersion. discuss possibility probe unknown function by observations linear theory instabilities. manifold properties acquire thermodynamically nature solar indicate clear need accounting combined heating/cooling traditional problems formation evolution prominences rain, adequate modelling interpretation magnetohydrodynamic

On a source of Alfvén waves heating the solar corona

Studies of the origin of coronal heating and acceleration of the solar wind invoke high-frequency Alfvén waves. Here we suggest a source for such waves associated with twisted magnetic loops emerging on the solar surface and reconnecting with the open field. We identify the loops with the ephemeral regions (small-scale bipoles) observed by ground-based instruments and by SOHO. To characterize t...

Micr,o-events in the Active and Quiet Solar Corona

The content of hot material in the corona is not constant. Soft X-ray and high-temperature EUV line observations show that new material, apparently heated and evaporated from the chromosphere, is frequently injected into the corona both in active and quiet regions. Active regions are found to exhibit transient brightenings, termed here microflares, due to such enhancements in emission measure. ...

The Compupter as an Active Communication Medium

Communication is often conceived of in basically the fol lowing terms. A person has some idea which he or she wants to communicate to a second person. The first person translates that idea into some symbol system which is t ransmit ted through some medium to the receiver. The receiver receives the transmission and translates it into some internal idea. Communication, in this view, is considered...

Plasma Diagnostics of the Solar Corona Using Decimetric Radio Waves (review) 1. Solar and Stellar Coronae

The solar corona is a very dynamic plasma on time scales down to a few tens of microseconds. The various emissions at decimetric wavelength are brieey reviewed. Several of them seem to be caused by energetic (non-thermal) electrons accelerated in ares or are-like processes releasing free magnetic energy. The use of decimetric radiation as diagnostics of the acceleration process, the ambient pla...
